Three Ways To Make Work Suck Less
Jul 13, 20251. Lower the bar on bad days
If today’s not the day to smash it, don’t. For some unfathomable reason, there is seems to be some assumption that every single one of us need to give 110% every single day.
But work is a marathon, not a sprint. And most of us are far better off giving 80% consistently (even less on some days) than going full out all the time, then burning out.
Small amounts of progress still count.
2. Turn frustration into fuel
When something at work annoys you, pause and ask: “What exactly is bothering me and what does that tell me about what I care about?”.
Getting clarity on your frustrations can help you speak up, set boundaries, or rethink what you’re willing to tolerate.
3. Stop doing other people’s jobs
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, look at your to-do list. Are you picking up tasks that aren’t yours? Are you trying to be the fixer for everyone else?
If so then it might be time to speak up, raise some concerns, or start setting more boundaries. Helping out is great but if you never say no, your job becomes everyone else’s mess.
